Apple’s ‘Education Event’ has been on our calendar for January 19th for a few weeks now, and I’ve been thinking about what exactly that might mean.
Several people have been asking me, “When will the iPad 3 be launched”, and as Bloomberg reported, Foxconn has been working 24/7 to manufacture the new tablet, so a launch event can’t be far off.
So, some predictions:
- Apple will hail the iPad as the best thing to happen to education since slate and chalk;
- The next iPad will be announced (whether iPad 3, iPad HD, or whatever) to coincide with big push to schools and colleges;
- iPad spin of iOS will gain new apps specifically designed for education – sharing screens from a teacher perhaps, homework tasks, revision help, etc.
- Possibly a new SKU specifically for the education market – to go on sale to schools/colleges/Universities.
We’ll find out. On Thursday 19th.
