Xbox Live security threat
Xbox Live service alert

Following the problems Sony are having with their PSN, everyone has a right to be jumpy, but Microsoft added to the chaos today by releasing a statement on their “Xbox Live status page” saying:

Users may experience difficulties with the following services:

  • Users may receive potential phishing attempts via title specific messaging while playing Modern Warfare 2.

We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience

They specify on the page that everything is up and running although users may experience some of these issues during matchmaking.

This is unlikely to be the same lot that hacked PSN, due to the differences, however, all gamers are worried after the recent crash of the PlayStation Network. It’s not clear what caused it, and it may just be paranoia playing on Microsofts mind. We will find out soon enough though.
